Review – Interspecies Reviewers, the Anime
Few Japanese cartoons can claim to have the outright notoriety stateside that Interspecies Reviewers (Japanese – Ishuzoku Rebyuāzu, 異種族レビュアーズ) has gathered in its short 12 episode run. Originally airing as part of a simulcast effort by Funimation, it was pulled unceremoniously after just three episodes airing. With this, various internet denizens and factions began to rally around or against the show. Champions claim this show to be the ultimate stab against those dreaded Social Justice Warriors, the last bastion against those who work tirelessly to homogenize Anime with Imperialistic intent. Detractors claim that the show was too pornographic and the fetishes covered were “too far” with accusations of child pornography…
Review – Swordsman of the Rift, Volumes 1 and 2
Bryan “The Invincible” Jenson is a former marine who finds himself stuck in a game world that’s all too real. He quickly finds himself teamed up with a daughter of the Queen of Hell an an Angel fallen from her home, aiming to break free from his imprisonment and ultimately breaking free from his past. Along the way he travels parts of hell, Valhalla, ancient tombs, mountain cave dungeons, a fight on an airship, and several misadventures in space. If this sounds like the type of book you’d readily read, and you don’t mind stories with harem action, then Brandon Varnell’s Swordsman of the Rift franchise is for you. Disclaimer:…

If anyone has any information about this painting or its artist I would be greatful if you shared.
Review – I Refuse to Be Your Enemy! Volume 1
If Langrisser or Fire Emblem were to receive a shoujo isekai treatment, Enemy! would be the result. The story follows the tale of Kiara, a teenager in a fantasy world with a rough noble upbringing who finds herself essentially purchased off of her stepmother by one Count Patriciel, who intends to use her to solidify his power. This scares her, however, because she has flashbacks of her previous life as a teenager in Japan who played the strategy game “Farzia: Kingdom at War” and recognized from this that her fate is to become something of a midboss, attempting to kill the main hero before dying herself. Naturally, she doesn’t wish…
Using the Occult for Information on Covid-19
So why did I decide to summon the dead? On Twitter, there’s this thread about a Professor at some college or another who put out a long e-mail in regards to, I’m not kidding you here, discuss his talking to famous dead scientist Louis Pasteur about what the “Corona Virus” is, where it came from, and how to stop it. Because why trust mainstream media, scientists of today, or even living fringe theorists when one can just call upon a dead French guy whose greatest claim to fame might be the process of making milk safer to drink? The shared e-mail comes off as borderline racist and particularly Nationalist, talking…
Review – Level Up: Serials by Alexa Sommers
It’s hard to fully judge author Alexa Sommers‘s Level Up franchise in their entirety, as only three of the planned five books (and potential spin-offs) have been released. That said, they’ve proven to be a very interesting take on the “college conquest” and harem genres, wedding geeky references and witty banter with steamy wish fulfillment and managing to do justice to both romance and smut. Review – Feline Good
Lana Kole is a romance author who does a lot of her marketing through the TikTok app, which was an unusual approach in my opinion. I’ve read so many romance books in the last year it isn’t even funny, but it’s refreshing to come across a good one. Feline Good is a stand-alone reverse harem about three cats turned into men, and it’s not even surprisingly good – it’s a-mew-singly so. It does a great job of showcasing the author’s voice, and it’s pretty much what one would be shopping for in this genre even if its supernatural elements are more camp than grounded. Nominated For Mystery Blogger Award 2020!
Well this is a rare treat. I’ve been nominated by Geeknabe, also known in Leth’s Lounge as Nabe-Chan, for the 2020 Mystery Blogger Award! Apparently, this is a super secret award that only the rarest of the rare get! Or maybe it’s like a blog chain and it’s pretty common. I don’t care, no one ever nominates me for anything, so this was a really nice surprise. What is the Mystery Blogger Award? The Mystery Blogger Award was created by one Okoto Enigma. They created it “because there are a lot of amazing blogs out there that haven’t been discovered” and “most of these blogs deserve recognition.” Once nominated, there…
Review – Sleeping With Hitler’s Wife
“Hello,” he said, in fluent German. This sentence was found within the first couple of pages of Gary L. M. Martin’s latest work, Sleeping With Hitler’s Wife, and set my expectations of the novel floor low. I did not expect this nearly 600 page book to be good. And it’s not. But it’s a spectacular train wreck that’ll keep you warm at night long after you’ve bleached your brain from reading it. This book is a thing. It’s the sort of train wreck where you record video and send to your friends so they can gasp in horror with you. It is a thing that must be experienced to fully…
Review – Secret of Epping Forest
I made a mistake. I went on a book spending spree, buying books Amazon recommended to me with no consideration for if they were good or not, if they were even the type of book I’d care for or not. Most of these books were more or less reasonably priced. The one we’re gonna look at today is $10, written and self-published by a cosplayer and model named Bridget Kathleen Pueppke. It isn’t very good, as you’ll learn, and not even in a fun or damning way. Disclaimer: the above advertisement is an affiliate link.
